I have posted a couple of times comments about the need that organizations must draft a set of rules about the use of social media by employees; incidents of improper (ie. irresponsible, stupid, or abusive) use of social media are countless. Many have lead not only to corporate problems but also have damaged those involved.
With pleasure I found that Coca Cola, one of the companies with official presence in the social media, drafted a set of rules as corporate guidelines for the use of social media by employees. In the introduction the document states that the purpose is "to help empower our associates to participate in this new frontier of marketing and communications, represent our Company, and share the optimistic and positive spirits of our brands". Hopefully more will follow.

Coca Cola's new soda fountain dispenser brings Mass Customization in the Point-of-Sale
Monday, May 25, 2009
Something really original; In an article posted in The Pitch Owen Morris revealed in February the plans of Coca Cola to come to the market with a new proprietary fountain dispenser that will be able to offer more than 100 different drinks!!! How could a soda fountain have space for the enormous stock required in order to offer such variety? No problem, they simply have developed a way to mix the drink in the machine! The news was announced on 28 April in a company press release revealing the name of the product: FREESTYLE. Let's wait and see. The next step? Maybe 150 variants of the Mars chocolate bar in a vending machine?
