Top 40 B2B Marketing Blogs - B2B Marketing Zone

Wednesday, September 9, 2009

Tony Karrer and I launched the B2B Marketing Zone (aka, The BMZ) on July 1 (see New Hub Site Focuses on B2B Marketing Intelligence). Since that time, it's been steadily growing in traffic and subscribers.

The site has also been gradually adding the very best sources of content on B2B Marketing. Here's the list of the sources that represent the Top 40+ B2B Marketing blogs:

Please let me know if I'm missing any blogs that produce great content around B2B Marketing.

Beyond having the best blogs as sources of content, much of the growth has to do with the site's ability to generate "Best Of" lists such as:

Subscribing to the Best Of B2B Marketing Zone is a great way to get the best from these sources. Tony tells me that he uses these Best Of posts as a way to see the very best from these 40+ blogs each month. "B2B Marketing is important to many of my clients, but I just don't have time to read all the posts from all these sources. The Best Of list is a great for someone like me."

The BMZ Content Portal for B2B Marketers Gains Traction

Wednesday, July 15, 2009

There's been a lot of activity since the B2B Marketing Zone (BMZ) officially launched two weeks ago. Traffic continues to grow and the number of featured bloggers has doubled.

Awareness has been expanded through posts from prominent b2b bloggers like Brian Carroll, Ardath Albee and Cece Salomon-Lee.

Also this morning, Rebel Brown (who's got one of the best blogger names anywhere) posted an informative interview with me and Tony Karrer, the technical and creative guru behind the site and the underlying Browse My Stuff technology platform. Her post provides more details about the purpose, goals and future plans for the BMZ site.

If you're looking for one place to find all of the best b2b marketing and PR content—filtered, aggregated and neatly packaged—or you'd like to contribute content, check out the B2B Marketing Zone.

New Hub Site Focuses on B2B Marketing Intelligence

Wednesday, July 1, 2009

A new B2B marketing community site, B2B Marketing Zone officially launched today. Conceptually the site is a bit like Social Media Today and other targeted content portals, though it's the first (that I'm aware of at least) focused specifically on providing information for B2B marketers.

Hosted by community organizer (I mean that in a good way) Tony Karrer using his Browse My Stuff technology, B2B Marketing Zone features content from rockstar B2B bloggers like Brian Carroll, Paul Dunay and Newt Barrett. Additional bloggers meeting the high standards for the community will be added over time.

The home page displays the latest and most popular content, with the ability to drill down into specific topic areas such as social media, email marketing, analytics and YouTube. The site is designed to make it easy for visitors to navigate to specific content, and drives traffic for member bloggers.

Learn more about the launch, how the B2B Marketing Zone works and how to participate in Tony's latest post.

With this launch, B2B Marketing Zone joins a small but growing number of sites like B2B social media hub FYIndOut.com that specifically address the needs of B2B marketing and PR professionals.

Best of 2008: WordPress Tools and Tips

Thursday, March 19, 2009

It may seem a little odd to see an article about the best WordPress-related posts on a Blogger blog, but for various reasons the WordPress platform inspires a sort of geeky passion that Google's blogging platform just doesn't. For example, I've never seen a post about "why your blog shouldn't be on WordPress"—though Dharmesh Shah vilified BlogSpot.com with such a piece.

So, to help educate WordPress newbies and more experienced hands alike, here are a sampling of the best articles and posts written about WordPress tactics and tools in the last year.

7 Tips When Using WordPress As CMS by Rubiqube

Blogger Adrian Diaconescu follows up on his earlier WordPress CMS tutorial with this list of helpful tips for SEO, navigation and design.

11 Top WordPress Plugins Every Blog Should Have by Yoast tweaking websites

Internet strategist Joost de Valk details some of his favorite plugins for functions like feed management (FeedBurner), rearranging pages (pageMash) and internal search (Search Excerpt). Unfortunately, Lighter Menus (a slick tool Joost recommends for creating drop-down menus) doesn't work with WP 2.7. Bummer.

Delicious Count WordPress Plugin … for Tracking and Improving Blog Post Quality! by Search Engine People

Jeff Quipp reviews the DeliciousCount WordPress Plugin, which tracks the number of Delicious saves of each of your blog posts to help you (theoretically) improve the quality of your posts over time.

9 WordPress Plugins You Need by Search Engine Journal

Yet another post on WP plugins, but Jonathan Dingman has compiled a short list of some of the best here, including SEO Slugs for optimizing post title tags; MobilePress for “mobile-izing” your site to work with the iPhone, Blackberry, or other mobile devices; and Subscribe to Comments for letting your readers do just what the name suggests.

10 Things You Need To Know About WordPress 2.7 by Technosailor

Noting that the WordPress 2.7 release is "a semantically, aesthetically and structurally different WordPress than you’ve ever known before. This is not your grandma’s WordPress!," Aaron Brazell details the most significant features of the new version, including navigation (vertical menus), the dashboard, and media and plugin management, among others.
